I guess the basic message is: do not give up.
Yeah, the big 'ups' and 'downs' take their toll. Let them. Allow them. Keep striving and knock them aside, collect them and stay balanced. Know your own characteristics and use them to forge your balance. Bla bla bla...but its meant to be true.
Yesterday the Wiener Gummieisbären won both the semi and final match of the Viennese Centimeter Hockey League playoffs. We are number 1.
As player/coach I can say that we played a solid, well rounded hockey. This made us strong and we did not give up. Thank you players!!!! I had some brief moments in the last weeks thinking about my future as coach of this team because coaching is a big distraction to my own game. Even yesterday I was pretty severely compromised with my performance, but i did not give up. No one gave up.
I had thoughts of being a lousy coach...a non-coach...a joke coach...
but I figured out in the end that it is the flexibility of a non-authoritarian plus a big portion of solid trust bringing a feeling between all team members that we can play well together with the talent and drives we have as individuals...and this is a big reason we were the strongest on playoff day. I am overwhelmed.
I got a good summer to think it over...
That said, "VOLL GUMMI!!!"
